Watson
Privacy Policy.
Effective October 13, 2026
Overview
Watson is a personal relationship manager. It's built to keep your data on your own devices and in your own iCloud account. This policy explains what Watson reads, where that data is stored, and the few cases where it's sent to a server.
What Watson reads
With your permission, Watson on the Mac reads your Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Messages, Mail, and call history to build a timeline of your conversations with each person. The Mac app needs Full Disk Access for Messages, Mail, and call history. You can revoke any permission at any time in System Settings, and Watson stops reading that source.
Where your data is stored
Everything Watson stores (contacts, interactions, notes, reminders, and tags) lives on your devices and in your private iCloud database. That database belongs to your Apple Account. The developer can't see it, and Apple protects it under its own privacy terms.
What leaves your devices
Watson sends data to its own server (hosted on Vercel) only in these cases:
- LinkedIn and Instagram messages. If you install the Watson browser extension or connect Instagram, the messages it captures are sent to and stored on Watson's server (with its database hosted by Turso) so your apps can download them.
- AI features. When you use AI features such as the daily brief or a drafted message, the relevant details about the contact and your recent conversations are sent through Watson's server to Anthropic's Claude API to generate the response. Watson's server doesn't store this content. Anthropic handles it under its commercial API terms.
Siri and Shortcuts requests are handled by Apple on your device using Watson's local data.
When you connect an Instagram professional (Creator or Business) account, Watson receives direct messages sent to or from that account, and basic profile information (such as the username) of the people in those conversations, using the instagram_business_basic and instagram_business_manage_messages permissions. That data is used only to add those conversations to your contact timeline. The stored access token is used only to keep syncing and is never shared.
What Watson doesn't do
Watson has no ads, doesn't sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers, and doesn't use third-party analytics or tracking.
Deleting your data
Deleting a contact or note in Watson removes it from your devices and iCloud. To remove everything, delete Watson's data in System Settings → [your name] → iCloud and uninstall the apps. You can disconnect Instagram at any time in Watson's Settings, which removes the stored access token and stops syncing, or revoke access from your Instagram account settings. To have LinkedIn or Instagram messages deleted from Watson's server, contact the developer below.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will appear here with a new effective date.
